In my current paintings I am driven to redefine abstraction in my own terms. I believe by allowing each of a painting's consecutive actions to remain visible, the result is a purer overall image. My choice to use steel and brass in the work stems from a long history of working with these materials. Also, the fact that they represent abstraction and reality at the same time intrigues me. In this work I primarily look inward for inspiration.
